President Sisi and SG discuss bilateral cooperation

President Abdel Fatah al Sisi met with Sindiso Ngwenya, Secretary General, Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Saturday on the sidelines of the forum on business

During the meeting, the two sides discussed means of boosting cooperation ties between Egypt and COMESA especially in mega projects including that of the Suez Canal axis development, Presidential Spokesman Alaa Yousef was quoted as saying in a statement by Youm7.

They also tackled cooperation projects in the fields of infrastructure and food security, in addition to establishing a navigational route that connects Lake Victoria and the Mediterranean.

President Sisi praised efforts made by COMESA to achieve cooperation and regional integration in Africa. The president highlighted COMESA’s role in launching a free trade agreement between Africa’s three major economic blocs, said Yousef.

For his part, Ngwenya has expressed his appreciation to President Sisi’s effort to support development efforts in the African continent, promoting trade and investment ties among its states and defending its interests during the climate change summit held in Paris, according to Youssef.

Egyptian ministers of foreign affairs, investment, international cooperation, trade and industry were present during the meeting. (Source/The Cairo Post)
