The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA\/the
\nAuthority) has noted various media reports about Cell C\u2019s current financial
\ndifficulties. The Authority has also noted reports of purported acquisition of Cell C as
\nwell as roaming arrangements and facilities sharing pertaining to Cell C.
\nICASA appreciates and welcomes the efforts and measures being taken to ensure the
\ncontinued existence of Cell C. This is primarily because ICASA believes that the
\nfailure of Cell C would have adverse effects on the stability of South Africa\u2019s
\nInformation and Communications Technology (ICT) sector, and undermine the public
\npolicy objectives of ensuring that the South African public has access to a wide range
\nof communications services at affordable prices.
\nNotwithstanding the various media reports, ICASA is yet to be notified of any
\ntransactions by any of the licensees. In this regard, ICASA would like to caution all
\nparties to ensure that the necessary regulatory compliance requirements pertaining
