{"id":238,"date":"2014-12-05T07:50:31","date_gmt":"2014-12-05T07:50:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ipan.co.za\/?p=238"},"modified":"2019-08-07T10:27:37","modified_gmt":"2019-08-07T10:27:37","slug":"south-africa-signs-agreements-of-cooperation-with-china","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ipan.co.za\/?p=238","title":{"rendered":"SOUTH AFRICA SIGNS AGREEMENTS OF COOPERATION WITH CHINA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">South Africa has signed several strategic agreements with the government of the People<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u2019<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">s Republic of China which aim to strengthen bilateral relations, trade cooperation and create sustainable investment opportunities between the two countries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The agreements were signed at the historic State Visit by His Excellency President Jacob Zuma to China where he held official talks with his counterpart, His Excellency President Xi Jinping of the People<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u2019<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">s Republic of China.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The following agreements were signed<\/span>:<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxMsoListParagraph\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><i><span lang=\"EN-US\">A <b>5-10 Year Strategic Programme on Cooperation between the People<\/b><\/span><\/i><b><i>\u2019<\/i><\/b><b><i><span lang=\"EN-US\">s Republic of China and the Republic of South Africa: <\/span><\/i><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\">this agreement focuses on various bilateral cooperation including, amongst others, Political Mutual Trust and Strategic Coordination; Mutual Beneficial Economic Cooperation and Trade; People-to-People Exchanges and Cooperation; African Affairs and China-Africa Relations as well as Cooperation in International Affairs and BRICS related issues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxMsoListParagraph\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Agreed Minutes on further improving bilateral cooperation in trade and investment between the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Republic of South Africa and \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0the Ministry of Commerce of the People<\/span>\u2019<span lang=\"EN-US\">s Republic of China. This is intended to redress the structural imbalance in our bilateral trade.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxMsoListParagraph\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Action Plan on Agriculture Cooperation between Republic of South Africa and the People<\/span>\u2019<span lang=\"EN-US\">s Republic of China (2014-2016).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxMsoListParagraph\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Protocol of Phytosanitory Requirements for the export of maize from the Republic of South Africa to the People<\/span>\u2019<span lang=\"EN-US\">s Republic of China.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxMsoListParagraph\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Protocol of Phytosanitory Requirements for the Export of Apple Fruit from the Republic of South Africa to the People<\/span>\u2019<span lang=\"EN-US\">s Republic of China.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ecxMsoListParagraph\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u2022\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">Protocol of Phytosanitory Requirements for the Export of Dates from the People<\/span>\u2019<span lang=\"EN-US\">s Republic of China to the Republic of South Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Body\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The signing of the agriculture related agreements was affirmation that both countries stand ready to strengthen personnel and technology exchanges as well as promote agricultural capacity building through exchanging delegations.
